Theda is a songwriter, intuitive singer and performer from Vancouver's lower mainland and island, who’s passion is to support the conscious evolution of humanity to create a love centered and sustainable world and preserve our beautiful earth.
As well as the craft of songwriting, Theda has a passion for improvising songs and music in the moment to any audience. Her recordings are diverse, ranging from ethereal and meditative with Crystal Bowls, Drums and Harp to her Singer Songwriter eco-folk, environmental and inspirational songs written and performed on her guitar.

About Theda
"My name is Theda Phoenix, I am an intuitive singer, a songwriter and performer originally from BC. Singing has been a calling since I was young. I was born in the 70's to artistic, hippy, back-to-the-land parents in the mountains of eastern British Columbia. I spent my first two years growing into a curious blond-haired toddler, discovering snow and life in the small town appropriately named Golden.
My father, movie buff with a passion and gift for astrology, named me Theda after Theda Bara, the famous silent movie actress from the 1920's. Based on my astrology chart, he thought I may have a flare for the stage. He also gave me the name Phoenix, as a symbol of my Scorpio sun sign. The Phoenix is the mythical bird that rose from it's ashes and is symbolic of the Scorpio energy of transformation, death~rebrith.
In 1986 I moved with my mother and younger brother to Echo Bay, a small, island community in the Broughton Archipelago on the West Coast of British Columbia. Living on a float house with no electricity and only boat transport gave me the opportunity to experience the natural world closely, playing outdoors and spending lots of time on the water with orca and humpback whales, dolphins, seals and eagles. Without the typical urban distractions I was able to attune deeply to the rhythms of coastal life. I witnessed the cycles of big tides with the full moon and the return of the salmon to the rivers every summer. This experience informed in me, a recognition of the innate spiritual intelligence flowing through this planet and all of life. It has inspired me to sing spontaneously, as a celebration of the essential living spirit flowing through us all."

Theda has performed at the Ottawa Folk Festival, and Ottawa Sound Healing Conference, the Duncan Garage show room, Spiritual Living Centres, Seminars, Weddings, Memorials and fundraisers such as for the Great Bear Rainforest. She sings at Labyrinth walks and plays music for live yoga classes. Theda is also an event performer, and has sung at seminars with authors and speakers such as Dr Deepak Chopra, Dr Joe Dispenza, Christianne Northrup MD, Oriah Mountain Dreamer, and Dr. Caroline Myss, and has performed with Kirtan artists Shimshai from California, Wade Imre Morrisette, and at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre with Nutone Artist Will Blunderfield.
Theda studied performance and songwriting with Julie Blue, Pat Pattison and studied classical voice at VCC’s School of Music. She has also more recently trained in SoundWork with Gary Diggins in Toronto.
Theda has produced four soothing CD's, most recently, Legacy, her debut songwriter album, “Suspended”, ambient electronica with luscious vocals and dreamlike lyrics, “Remergence”, a hauntingly meditative journey, and "Crystal Calm" an ambient Crystal Singing Bowl relaxation CD with breathy and ethereal vocals. All except her newest are works of flowing improvisation and creative inspiration. Her music is played at yoga/spa facilities and stores throughout the world including in Vancouver, Ontario and Hawaii. Theda’s CD’s are also available at Banyen Books in Vancouver and on i-tunes.
Theda is currently touring her new CD Legacy, of composed singer/songwriter folk/contemporary songs on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
